The Five Student Authorship Questions

Every guided imagi or AI creation in Grades 3–6 is authored by the student. Students plan, prompt, test, debug, and explain — and their answers to these five questions become the "artifact plus five authorship questions" listed as Student Evidence on each grade page.

  1. 1

    Plan

What am I making, and why does it matter to me?

  2. 2

    Prompt

What did I ask the AI or tool to do, in my own words?

  3. 3

    Test

What worked, and what did not work the way I expected?

  4. 4

    Debug

What did I change or fix to make it better?

  5. 5

    Explain

Where is my voice in this, and what did I learn?

These questions live inside our existing Leader in Me instructional time. They are not a new initiative or an added block — they are how students show their voice when a habit application uses imagi or AI.

How the plan works

  1. 1

First 8 Days come first. Aug. 20–31 is protected for classroom culture and the eight daily leadership modules.

  2. 2

Habit 3 begins Sept. 1. Big Rocks, Time Matrix, and Keeping Commitments establish the year's planning routines.

  3. 3

AI finishes by Sept. 25. Two short AI lessons per week are paired with the current Leader in Me focus.

  4. 4

One Common Sense lesson weekly after AI. The order is intentionally changed so each digital lesson aligns to the current habit.

  5. 5

Overlap is spiral practice. Shared routines, vocabulary, and products replace duplicate instruction.

  6. 6

Final nine weeks are application. No new Common Sense lessons; students transfer learning through projects and reflection.
